I'm a little obsessed with these right now. They are a pain to harvest, but have such an amazing flavor.
-
sugardetoxme How do you harvest them? Just a sharp pair of scissors snipping away?
-
olivettefarm @sugardetoxme we use sharp harvest knives. They're a little easier to move around in the trays. Same knives we use for lettuce and other leafy greens.
Leafy green harvest today.

Harvesting Kohlrabi

We love to shred it and make a slaw with our Napa cabbage. We also cook the leaves low and slow similar to collards. #nofoodwaste #FoodRevolution

JenniferEmilson One of my faves!! Eat it like an apple!
Baby red romaine.

I love to cut them in half a pop them on the grill real quick. So good. The green insides and red outsides make for a pretty greens mix as well. Fun fact: cold weather will intensify the red on the...
Harvesting Swiss Chard today.

We love to sauté the stems and greens and add them to our eggs. They have a nice earthy flavor and the stems add a good crunch. #FoodRevolution
-
PAFarmer They grow up so fast!
-
olivettefarm @PAFarmer yep! So true

JamieOliversFoodRevolution Love the tip @olivettefarm & looks delicious!
Eat your microgreens!

This is our mild mix. It includes red Russian kale, amaranth and red cabbage. It's packed with nutrients and is very tasty! I love to add these to my breakfast omelets. #FoodRevolution
-
sugardetoxme started growing amaranth and can't get over how beautiful and colorful it is.
-
olivettefarm @sugardetoxme agreed! It's beautiful. I feel like it looks different depending on the angle you're looking at it.
Eat your radish greens!
8yr
Small radishes like this one tend to have nice, tender greens that taste very similar to the radish themselves. Use them to add a little spice to your greens mix. #nofoodwaste #FoodRevolution
-
sugardetoxme I love baby radishes and turnips. Eat the whole thing!! BTW, I wanted to let you know that those lacewings work like a charm indoors! No aphids!
-
JenniferEmilson Oh yes- I roast them just like kale or Brussels sprouts chips!!
-
olivettefarm @JenniferEmilson yes! So good.
Bugs decided to make some art on my collards.

DietID_TeamDietitians ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
-
sugardetoxme I'm about to try some green lacewings on my aphids indoors. Good idea or bad idea @olivettefarm
-
olivettefarm @sugardetoxme good idea to kill aphids, but they may procreate a little more than you might want in your home. Aside from that they'll do great and won't explore around the house as much as...
Red Russian Kale - my favorite variety.
8yr
Red Russian is quick growing, delicious, nutritious, and very productive. It's an heirloom as well! What's not to love?
-
mirasingh How long did it take to grow this big after planting the seeds?
-
olivettefarm @mirasingh these plants are about 6weeks old. 4wks in our greenhouse and 2wks in the ground.
-
mirasingh So quick!! You should do a time lapse video 👍
Wheatgrass - love it or hate it?
8yr
We grow and sell a good bit of wheatgrass, but have found it to be a polarizing crop as well. It's health benefits are very contested. Some swear by it, some swear against it. What are your thoughts?
-
DietID_TeamDietitians I'm not a die hard fan because it's made me feel a bit sick to my stomach once. Other than that, I know it's packed with nutrients but there hasn't been any good research on that I've found. Anyone...
-
lauren What are the uses other than juicing?
-
olivettefarm @Rachna I've also yet to find any strong research on the benefits of it, a lot of it is still anecdotal at this point..to my knowledge at least. The breakdown of nutrients actually isn't that...
