Failure to lunch - a look at the sad desk lunch culture. Do you eat lunch at your desk?
mobile.nytimes.com
I'm guilty of this all too often and am determined to change it
-
brittanymbarton I resist this as much as possible! But I think it's easier when you work at home and can eat in a different room.
-
darkchocolatepeanutbutter I usually eat lunch at the table but sadly I've gotten into the habit of eating breakfast at my desk at home. It feels strange to eat by myself at the table in the morning.
-
DietID_TeamDietitians Yea when I work from home I force myself to eat at a normal table but for some reason at the office, I fall victim to the "working lunch"
Businesses can't make workers share tips, appeals court rules

What do you think- is tipping an outdated model? "A court ruling is pushing California restaurant owners to rethink how to pay employees." #foodnews

Udi Tipping stinks. Seems like it's starting to change slowly. There's Uber. And Danny Meyer. The other day at a bar in Brooklyn the bartender told us not to tip her because she gets paid a proper...

What to do with all those artichoke leaves?

Georegulus I never really figured out how to use artichokes, so I'd like to know myself!
-
mirasingh I've heard you can steam them with herbs and butter - any herbs if you have some lying around. I also just came across this thread on @food52...
-
olivettefarm I remember an herbalist I met once dried them and used them in teas. I think he may have used them as a digestive. We tried to use the leaves once in stock, but weren't crazy about it.
Best brunch places in NYC that focus on vegetables??
instagram.com
Brooklyn, NY
"“Listen up brunch restaurants! I want to see more vegetables on your menu so I can have a breakfast like this. Eggs and veggies. #veggiesforbreakfast…”"
-
DietID_TeamDietitians Veggie-focused brunch / breakfast places that do it right: Westville (if you're doing late breakfast) and Jack's Wife Freda has a shakshouka and a mediterranean breakfast on the menu.

lauren Chalk Point Kitchen!

sugardetoxme I'm now practically eating lunch for breakfast bc I want more and more greens in my tummy!
What's your favorite go-to cookbook from which everything turns out to be delicious without fail?
One of mine is definitely Yotam Ottolenghi's Jerusalem. This roasted butternut squash and red onion dish with fried pine nuts, a tahini dressing and za'atar was a big hit! #foodbookandfilmclub
-
JenniferEmilson Can never go wrong with Jerusalem. If you want to count on well rounded, go-to recipes for all sorts of occasions, I still find that Ina Garten's books are so dependable.

Who is going to lead food policy?
Resounding agreement at @foodbizschool panel that there is NO food policy happening in Washington. Question on how we'll put it on the agenda.
