cgsegelette 6yr Ouch! That’s going to be hard but yep😃
-
ElanaG 6yr What do I replace with?
-
cgsegelette 6yr Check out bullet coffee on line or maybe vanilla almond milk?
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 6yr Hey @ElanaG - yep, in 2 tsps of coffee creamer, you get at least 1 tsp of sugar, so you can try going without the creamer, or try a creamer without any added sugar, like Califia Farms unsweetened almond milk creamer. As for the whipped cream, most store bought whipped creams are sweetened. But you can easily make your own by whipping up some heavy cream, and leaving it in a glass covered glass bowl in the fridge. Hope that helps!

annefood 6yr @ElanaG you could always stick with half and half, as it's nice and creamy without the sugar. It might take a few days to get used to, but once you make the adjustment I doubt you'll miss the sugar. Or as Rachna said, whip your own heavy cream (I add a splash of vanilla extract to mine) and keep it in a container in the fridge. In fact, one of my FAVORITE things is having leftover homemade unsweetened whip cream to have in my coffee the next day :)

kmkelman 6yr You can do it @ElanaG !! Change is hard, but good for you:). I’m struggling without my dark chocolate almonds after dinner:(
-
annefood 6yr @kmkelman when I’m avoiding added sugar I have a bit of dried fruit - also good with almonds! Just make sure it’s unsweetened. I like dried mango, dates, or dried apricots for dessert.
-
kmkelman 6yr I do too but apparently the bag of dried cherries I bought from Costco has sugar in it. Teaching me to read ALL labels.
-
annefood 6yr @kmkelman yes dried cherries and cranberries are big sugar culprits! Glad you are reading labels! 👍🏼
-
samkelman 6yr Dates are great for killing the craving !!! This might be weird but i put a little scoop of peanut butter on dates as a snack! Delish !
-
annefood 6yr @samkelman not weird at all! Delish!
-
ElanaG 6yr Ahhhh @kmkelman this is going to be the death of me!!!
-
ElanaG 6yr @Rachna the creamer has 30 calories and 1 gram of sugar in 1 tablespoon. I use less than that, how can it be so bad?
-
tovisnaw 6yr So there's nutpods. Takes some getting used to, but they're good
-
annefood 6yr @ElanaG 1 gram of added sugar per day certainly isn’t going to negatively impact one’s health. However, added sugar tends to be lurking everywhere, and the grams add up (creamer + sweetened whipped cream... and that’s just before breakfast). This Challenge is great because it makes us aware of all the hidden sugars we aren’t aware of in our diets- the sugar in @kmkelman’s dried fruit, for example. You can choose to use your free passes for whatever you like (a half pass for your morning coffee if you so choose), which will help you get into the habit of choosing when to have sugar in your diet, instead of the sugar being second nature, or even unknown. When we have sugar in our coffee plus a sweetened iced tea plus sweetened dried fruit etc. throughout the day, all of a sudden we’re consuming a ton of sugar without even having dessert! And that’s when we get into trouble.

ElanaG 6yr @annefood very true!! I don’t drink anything but water and my morning coffee. I’m thinking the creamer and my lack of ice cream will be my major changes here!
