I had the chance to cohost a healthy eating workshop for 60 students at Cody high school - one of the lowest performing in Detroit
The students were curious, knowledgable, engaged, and really sweet. We talked about the healthy plate, what kinds of fruits and veggies you can find at the local market, and why too much sugar isn't good for you. We set up a yogurt bar for their snack (plain yogurt, fruits, nuts, and seeds) - a much healthier alternative to their normal pop tart breakfast. My favorite moment was when a girl asked me if she could take the daikon radish we brought in. Then she bit right into it and said she loved it! I hope I can do this again and in more schools! Thanks @mordechai for making this happen in your mom's classroom! And @simplywithout thanks for the tips!
