A smoothie can be an awesome way to get more fruits and veggies @TBollen ! Try swapping the orange juice for milk (almond, hemp, cow etc.) to cut down on the sugar—juice gives our bodies big sugar rush since it doesn't contain fiber. And try to add some plain yogurt for protein too! It will sustain you for longer. :)

@TBollen yes unfortunately even freshly squeezed juice should be consumed in extremely small quantities, if at all. Crazy right? We all grew up being told to drink our juice! Fruit contains a lot of sugar, but when you eat the whole fruit you also get a lot of fiber that helps your body process the sugar. By juicing the fruit you remove the fiber, essentially giving your body a huge sugar jolt as if you were eating a pixie stick. While freshly squeezed orange juice a better choice than juice from concentrate, and obviously way better than drinking soda—the freshly squeezed juice contains plenty of vitamins, minerals and obviously doesn't have any chemicals—it's still straight up liquid sugar. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! If you want to include orange in your smoothie, toss in the whole fruit instead of juicing it, and use some type of milk for the liquid.
