My grandmother makes SO MUCH FOOD every time my family comes to visit. Huge breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with separate dishes for meat eaters and vegetarians, for cousins who don't like certain vegetables, etc. We always take all the leftovers we can home and I freeze a lot of it but definitely working on trying to change that habit. It can be hard to approach that when someone is just trying to do something so nice for you .

I find that friends who didn't learn how to cook when they were young have a similar reflex - better to be overprepared. But as more of these people have dinner parties, more food also gets wasted. Maybe always carry an empty Tupperware container wherever you go

I'm glad the point is made about how your body absorbs nutrients, like vitamin D. Just drinking water with extra vitamins doesn't help you as much ingesting it with a full meal.
