The Psychological Truth Behind Juice Cleanses
Do you juice? What are your motivations behind it? Tastes good? Don't eat enough veggies? Totally addicted and can't stop? Weight loss? I love a good green juice- sometimes it hits the spot. But there are a lot of misconceptions- this is a GREAT article from last year dissecting the appeal and effects of juicing. "If you really are too busy to eat food, you might have bigger problems than can be solved with juice. For the rest of us, juicing does seem like a tidy solution. But it’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist. You only need a certain amount of each vitamin or mineral, so “a huge level of nutrients” is no better than the right level of nutrients. In some cases it might be worse, since getting too much of one thing or another is as bad as getting too little... The other problem is that drinking five to ten servings’ worth of fruits and vegetables is not the same as eating five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables."
