Most baked goods are calorically-dense even if they are made without animal products so it's good to eat an appropriate portion. You can use substitutes for regular milk like soy milk or coconut milk or replace an egg with a mashed ripe banana or a chia egg (1 tbsp chia seeds mixed with 3 tbsp of water). To reduce sugar, you could take out a 1/4 of a cup of sugar in the recipe and you won't notice the difference. I hope you enjoy your treat!

Hey @Uber - It's important to remember that calories alone aren't the key to good health. And replacing whole food ingredients with artificial ones can often lead to other health problems, and should be avoided. Besides, a brownie with water and artificial sweetener isn't going to taste nearly as good, right? If you're going to have dessert, then cook the real thing—just eat a small portion! The great thing about getting into good eating habits is that you're allowed to have dessert from time to time. You could also bake a recipe that is naturally more nutritious. For example, banana bread made with almond flour such as this recipe https://elanaspantry.com/paleo-banana-bread/ . Almond flour is packed with protein and a much better choice than white flour. And choosing something that is naturally sweetened with fruit means it requires a lot less sugar. You'd be using less sugar, and more whole food ingredients that are far more nutritious, without artificial substitutions.
