OK so many thoughts. This indoor ag thing is a loooong play no matter what the players are trying to make us think. What they’re doing now is getting the process, the tech, right (its really hard). But market forces are not ideal yet. LEDs are getting cheaper, more efficient and more customized specifically for agriculture. Plus, when an early stage company is working to prove a business model, ideals like alternative energy just don’t; fit in the plan. But solar, wind, natural gas are often in the long term plans. I’ve tasted food from most of the major growers and it really is fantastic. And I don’t really think that its meant to eclipse traditional growing - just take some of the pressure off of Salinas quite honestly. The salad we buy in the grocery store is all from Salinas Valley and the lengths they have to go to get enough water (pumping, trucking etc) is bonkers so Im all for alternatives, but this stuff is years if not decades away from making a real dent.
