Traditional Southern version of eggs and toast

My stepfather from North Carolina fixed this dish of comfort food for dinner. He used homemade zucchini bread, butter and 2 eggs over easy. He said the traditional way was to cook the buttered toast in a wood stove, cook the eggs then mash them up on the toast in the skillet and eat it out of the pan.
