How Minimum Wage Hikes Could Affect Small Scale Franchisees
"Despite evidence to the contrary, fast-food franchisees say wage hikes will affect their bottom line." These are small privately run businesses we are talking about. #policynews

this is such an important discussion, because a lot of 'small businesses' in America are actually franchises - where the independent business owner absorbs all risk. As someone who grew up in a small business household, I can understand where these franchises are coming from - owners are barely making ends meet. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I know the person running 1-2 subways is not taking home big bonuses like the Subway executives.

So true, Rachna. Good to hear your comments on this.
YAY!! I wish bakeries in the US made gluten-free stuff out of rice and buckwheat flours without all the junk and fillers... #foodnews

This is great! Why not bake and experiment with different types of flours, just from a culinary perspective? You get such different and interesting flavors and textures.
This could change restaurant culture, minimum wage and the middle class! #foodnews#policynews

This is such a big deal. I'm curious if this new federal ruling will ensure more restaurants will move to a no tipping model to ensure they can compensate chefs their well-deserved overtime pay....

I suspect there are some harmless GMOs, and harmful GMO food products.
My hunch is that Monsanto GMO corn with embedded pesticides is not great for human health.
