Yep and also that so many people are only treating diabetes medically and not with better nutrition. It's such a pervasive problem with far-reaching and long-lasting implications!

Agree and agree. So, I might as well share related encouraging story : I have a friend who found out he had diabetes in his early 50s. He was shocked and very upset to say the least. (especially since his wife is veterinarian, thus he thought he's been eating very healthy diet). He was put on meds, daily sugar blood level tests etc. He decided to fight it: Changed eating habits, increased physical activity etc. and got off the meds within a year or so, which demonstrates that in some cases it can be beat, even when falling into it.

Totally agree @rachna The easy way out- take some pill etc and then keep bad eating habits. But like @riki shows, lifestyle and healthy diet put us so ahead of the game and can even reverse many problems.
New York City has so much to offer. Even for vegan/vegetarian cuisine, there's a whole world to explore, and I feel lucky to have found such a great group with whom I can share it. But as a residen...
