If you could get the general population to change ONE aspect of their eating habits, what would it be?
One of our Behind The Plate questions that we ask interviewees is “If you could get the general population to change one aspect of their eating habits, what would it be?” We've rounded up our top 10 answers from BTP that you can read here, but we want to know- what would YOU say? #behindtheplate
1. Animal products make you sick - yes even local, organic, grass-fed products sprinkled with pixie dust. The healthiest, longest-lived populations in the world (traditional okinawans, 7th-day adventists, sardinians) follow a 95-100% plant-based diet.
2. Animal agriculture is the single largest contributor to green house gas emissions (it takes 1500 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef)
3. Animal agriculture is the primary reason for amazon deforestation.
4. Animal agriculture by definition involves the torture and slaughter of sentient beings. In that light, consuming animal products is a profoundly selfish act - for a hamburger you are destroying the world for the coming generations.
