DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr Ya it's crazy -- the farmers markets in Michigan had local tomatoes up until 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering if they are just greenhouse tomatoes. Do you guys see tomatoes down in Asheville through the winter?

olivettefarm 9yr @Rachna that's crazy! Tomatoes tend to disappear from about November until June around here. Sometimes greenhouse tomatoes last into early December. January tomatoes you're seeing probably come from people with heated greenhouses and not many disease issues.

DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr Ahhh interesting. I'll ask them next week to get the skinny. I was just so shocked to see them so I bought them. Didn't taste nearly as delish as the summer ones, but a local tomato in January is hard to pass up!

I love these crunchy little shoots. Growing tip - add a little bit of worm castings to your soilless seed mix and you will notice a huge change in flavor.
