sugardetoxme 9yr I'd love to know what to do with mulberries. Maybe a homemade granola?
-
SimplySeema 9yr Love mulberries! I love adding the fresh ones into homemade raw chocolate. It's a delicious sweet surprise. Imagine it would be great mixed in with nuts, cereal or even cookies! What are your ideas @JenniferEmilson?
-
JenniferEmilson 9yr I've only ever had them fresh. These have a slight crunch, like figs. I'll either use for granola or porridge topping, or else I'll reconstitute them in safer for baking.
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr I've never had these but if they are anything like figs, maybe try microwaving to soften and then mix with dates and nuts?
-
wheeler 9yr What the what are dried Mulberries?
-
JenniferEmilson 9yr They are the dried version of fresh mulberries, a berry shaped kind of like a blackberry. Dried white mulberries are high in iron, protein, vitamin C and fibre. Loads of people just snack on them. I'm trying to decide what else I can do. I think soaking in water to reconstitute is a start!
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr Ah so good to know. Will find them
-
garv 9yr @ JenniferEmilson Poach em in wine & drizzle on vanilla ice cream. I'd imagine it would tasted good in an oats & mulberry cookie too! @SimplySeema mulberry + chocolate , very interesting !
-
JenniferEmilson 9yr Love love the idea of poaching in wine over ice cream. Or even an anise liqueur maybe... I like where this is going...
-
garv 9yr While you are at it , poach it in wine with a few spices : cinnamon , star anise & clove maybe. Strain , throw is some nuts & you have an adult sundae !
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr This is magic happening right here
-
wheeler 9yr @garv sounds a bit like Mulled Wine. Could you do the same and drink the wine afterwards? š
-
JenniferEmilson 9yr Now that's getting wintery cozy. For spring what about some elderflower liqueur or cordial and thyme or mint, Reduce to make a syrup and add pistachios? @garv @wheeler
-
garv 9yr @wheeler of course you can but why not savour it with some ice cream & save some mulled wine for later!
-
wheeler 9yr @garv I CAN HAS IT ALL? š³
-
wheeler 9yr @JenniferEmilson I think Foodstand just imploded with that comment. šš¼šš¼šš¼ to build on that, I make cocktails and the idea of having a multi-layered syrup based on dried mulberries blows my mind
-
garv 9yr @JenniferEmilson I like!
-
SimplySeema 9yr @garv yes mulberries inside frozen 100% raw chocolate is so delicious! I remember it tasting a little like a coffee donut. I like the idea of mixing it in with spices & wine or ice cream... Yum!!!
