DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr Wow! What would it take to have this in New York? Or other parts of the country??
-
kategalassi 9yr Good question. I think the visionary behind the project worked for 10 years to make it come together. The port of Philadelphia is also the number one port for imported produce. So that may have something to do with it

DietID_TeamDietitians 9yr Ah yes that makes sense. It makes me wonder what it would take to make w food hub profitable, because there are very few large scale warehouses like this. @BenjaminWalmer - you probably have some thoughts

BenjaminWalmer 9yr We have this in NYC at Hunts Point in the Bronx; one huge hanger for seafood and at least one for produce. Two of the prime challenges for realizing these types of facilities in urban centers are the logistics and the economics of real estate...both of which are a big part of why the seafood market moved from South Street Seaport to Hunts Point.
